🙏 The Power of Prayer – Mark 6:7
When you google the definition of power, it defines power as “the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events.”
Jesus gave His disciples the power over unclean spirits. These included (and still include) both evil spirits that possess and the ones that oppress. Jesus gave this power to His disciples, including Judas Iscariot and many others beyond the Twelve – Luke 10:1-23. Evil (or unclean) spirits cannot possess the church as an individual Christian, or the church as a collective organism, but they can oppress either or both of them.
The oppression of evil spirits manifests when your flesh begins to have its way above the Spirit of God in you. This can also be termed manipulations of darkness. And, they include the 4 spiritual hierarchy of darkness as listed in Ephesians 6:12.
Dear friends, let us fight the good fight of faith – 1 Timothy 6: 12. Every day, you can set out some time to pray warfare prayers, not against the evil man or woman in your community or workplace, but against the evil spirits behind the evil men, evil women and evil course of events in the whole world at large (see Ephesians 6:12). Pray in the morning, afternoon or night. The time of day doesn’t really matter. Don’t give yourself the excuse of bad timing. You can pray EVERYTIME and ANYTIME, even only for an hour or 30 minutes.
Your Prayer Counts!
Don’t ever think your prayer wouldn’t count. Somebody once said, “If you think you’re too small to make a difference, try to sleep with a mosquito (or bug) let’s see if you can ignore it.” Somehow, when a Christian prays, it motivates God to stretch forth His hands towards the earth and do mighty miracles.
That “little” 30-minute prayer of yours could avert a plane crash somewhere, without your knowing it. Don’t stop praying it. That “little” 45-minute prayer of yours could just make the devil unable to send clear instructions to his agents. Don’t stop praying it. That “little” 60-minute prayer of yours could keep God’s hand from destroying the world. It could extend God’s time (the dispensation) of grace and mercy, and bring about a worldwide revival. Don’t stop praying it.
There is a continuous battle going on in the realms of the spirit between the angels of God and the angels of darkness (fallen angels). The angels of God desperately depend on the prayers of the saints (Christians) on earth to keep winning. When we continue to pray IN FAITH – a very important practice – the angels of God begin to overpower spiritual forces of darkness (demons). See Daniel 10:12-13.
Please pray, my dear friends. Don’t be tired!

I was around 5 when, I am strongly convinced, I first heard the distinct voice of God. But, not until I was 11 (2002) did I have a personal encounter with Him. I was in my room that night, about to pray before bed, when I saw a revelation of how filthy my heart was. I didn't argue with God that I was too young to have such amount of filth ('cause I believed I was a 'good boy,' by human standards, at least). I simply cried uncontrollably in brokenness of heart - "The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God" (Psalm 51:17) - and He didn't.
Still crying uncontrollably, I left my room and went to the living room, where my parents were watching the nightly news on TV. After I managed to tell them about the revelation I saw, my sweet mum took me to her room and led me to Christ. I got saved that night. And 6 years later, I discovered my purpose and assignment on earth, which is raising up men and women to be godly, and teaching them the simplicity of Christianity. More than a decade later, I am still fulfilling that purpose to His glory. Hallelujah!
